Now showing is ‘Winter Exhibition’ at Studio 11, opposite Cliffs Pavilion. This will inject some seasonal and spicy moods into your lives this Christmas and New Year. Celebrating its 3rd Anniversary this artist run gallery enticingly presents us with inventive and intriguing images – all new and previously unseen work from your favourite Studio 11 artists. Paintings, artist prints, photography, artist jewellery and cards – all are here.
Just what is happening in that mysterious landscape? What is that woman doing there with that man? Why does that abstract look good enough to eat? Why is that drawing so good that it becomes spiritually uplifting? To find out the answers to any of these questions, to find that special present or to take a moment away from the hurly-burly of the seasonal preparations you must come along to Studio 11, opposite Cliffs Pavilion. East Africa Famine Relief fundraiser at the Ship, Old Leigh on Friday 23rd September from 8pm. Local writer and DJ Daryl Easlea and friends will be spinning tunes from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Focal Point Gallery
This talk provides the chance to hear staff from Focal Point Gallery discuss the organisation’s two summer projects. Andrew Hunt, gallery director and curator of ‘Outrageous Fortune: Artists Remake the Tarot’ will discuss the exhibition in the gallery, while Saim Demircan Focal Point Gallery’s curator of offsite projects will examine Morag Keil’s temporary wall-based back-lit photographs, which are currently installed on Southend High Street. The event will start at Focal Point Gallery at 1.30pm and continue with a walk to the site of Keil’s project at The Royals Shopping Centre. The event is open to the general public and is free. -
